Calm lake...wet paddlers!

The Sunday training gang heads out on the lake after their run around the lake. Today's group consisted of Micky, Graham and Jeff in K-1, Lauren in C-1 and Katja and Catherine in K-2. The lake was flat calm and the air was wet and a bit chilly, but not cold enough for pogies.

Rainy Sunday

Temperatures were in the mid-teens with a light easterly wind... oh, and it rained a bit, was a good day to have a spraydeck. Graham and Jeff are shown here returning from their 16 km session. They were joined today by Katja, Catherine, Heide, Darrell, John and Micky.

World Marathon Championships

The World Marathon Canoe/Kayak Championships are happening this weekend in Perth Australia. Former BCKC member Ian Mackenzie (who not lives and trains in Victoria BC with the Ocean River Paddling Club) placed 19th in the Senior Men's K-1 36km race.

Sunday Run/Paddle Sessions are Back

The attached picture is of BCKC paddlers Catherine, Katja and Graham return from their Sunday morning training session. They were also joined by John, Heide, Micky and Cheslov. The lake was calm and warm as evidence by the short sleeves. Most of the lilly pads are still around but the milfoil is gone now, giving ideal paddling conditions.

Each Sunday members will be out running on the trails of Burnaby Lake Regional Park and then going out on the water for a paddle. If you would like to join us, just show up at the boathouse at 9:30AM for the run. The paddle usually starts around 10:45.

Introduction

Welcome to the blog of the Burnaby Canoe and Kayak Club. We are a flatwater sprint canoe and kayak club located in Burnaby, British Columbia Canada. Our club is affiliated with the Canadian Canoe Association as well as Canoe Racing BC. Our boathouse is located on Burnaby Lake where we store a wide variety of racing canoes and kayaks including a new dragonboat.

On this blog we will chronicle the exploits of club members as well as make note of interesting happenings around the canoe/kayak world. Please check back often as we will be blogging and paddling all year round (unlike some of our Eastern counterparts).
