BCKCers Rebecca, Emily, Kiran, Jim, Conor, Lynn, Katja, Hugh, Daryl and Jeff participated in one of the biggest western regattas in Regina over the Canada Day long weekend. Pictured above is the home base tent city occupied by the CanoeKayak BC team. The CKBC womens war canoe team, coxed by Jim, put on a great performance finishing 3rd in a very tight 500m race. Katja and BC coaches Lynn, Sara and Ashley teamed up to race the 200m K4 finishing 3rd in a competitive field. BC entered both mens and womens teams in the war canoe events, putting in good showings even though war canoe is a very under-utilized discipline at BC clubs. Hopefully the positive experiences of the athletes will foster movements to increase BC clubs' focus on war canoe paddling.
