FLCC Long Distance Regatta

BCKCers participated in Saturday's 2 and 6 km races held on the Fraser River at historic Fort Langley. The top photo is the start of the bantam/midget women's 6 km race in which BCKCers Emily, Kiran and Rebecca competed. The middle photo shows a close race between Kiran and a Gig Harbor paddler in their 2 km event. The bottom photo is Jeff and Dan competing in the 2 km K2 race. Other BCKC athletes who competed in the regatta included Jim, Conor, Katja, Darrell and John. BCKC parents Debbie, Dave and Kamal volunteered their time to officiate, drive a safety boat and record at the finish line. The FLCC team and CKBC officials did a fantastic job in running this event. It was great to have athletes from Saskatchewan, Alberta and Washington State join the BC paddlers for this regatta. We were treated to a calm and sunny day once the morning fog lifted off the river.

Sunday Training is back!

The weather conditions were excellent for the inaugural Sunday run/paddle session of this off-season. Jeff, Dan, Katja, Heide, Krista, Fred and Anouk took part in the run or walk around at least a portion the lake trail. Paddling were Rikst (C1), Lauren (C1 & K1), Krista, Heide, Dan, Katja, Jeff and Jim (all in K1's). This was Krista's return to a kayak following the birth of her daughter Anouk in early August.
