Saturday Training 3

Coach Lynn was happy today, most likely it is because her athletes were responding perfectly to her direction...and the absence of rain might have helped. :)

Saturday Training 2

This is a pretty cool shot of Conor in C1, the reflection in the water is so clear.

Saturday Training

We had to endure another fine west coast November day on Saturday, with the warm, dry conditions making for excellent paddling conditions. The kayaks at practise were caught simultaneously in set-up, catch and exit positions. Looks like we needed a 4th in order to show the power phase.

BCKC Awards Evening

Tonight was BCKC's awards evening. We had a great turnout of athletes and parents as well as the welcome surprise of MJ and Dick joining the fun. Lynn awarded the youth paddlers some very creative and entertaining awards, I'm sure created with Boss 2 (cousin Julie). Pictured above are Conor, Rebecca, Emily, Jim and Kiran with the awards these athletes presented to Lynn and Jeff. Thank you, both Lynn and I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. Lynn has also introduced the following new awards to recognize outstanding peformance by our athletes and exceptional contribution by our volunteers. Crewboat of the Year recognized the achievements of the BCKC masters war canoe team. Volunteer of the Year recognized the outstanding contributions of Dave Nosella. Commodore's Award to recognize outstanding contributions to Burnaby Canoe & Kayak Club. Special thanks to the Dagenais family for their generous donation of this very special plaque. Photos of the evening will be posted on the BCKC website.

Break from the Rain

The pineapple express has been drenching the west coast for the last couple weeks. We got a nice break this morning just in time for our morning run/paddle session. Darrell, Jim and Jeff ran the lake while Krista and Katja walked most of the trail. The on water group consisted of FCRCC paddlers Luke and Lauren in C1 and BCKCers Katja, Heide, Darrell and Jeff in K1. The rain returned in the afternoon.
