Ted Houk Regatta

Over the June 16/17 weekend BCKCers participated the 2007 Ted Houk Regatta held on Green Lake in Seattle. Ten BCKCers took part in this Seattle Canoe and Kayak Club hosted event.
Conor, Rebecca, Jim, Dan, John, Daryl, Jeff, Katja, Heide and Joanne took part in the event, with Conor and Rebecca joining the Gig Harbor gang for many teamboat races. FLCC paddlers Jordan, Elliot, Skye and Jim partnered with the BCKC group for teamboat events. The nasty crosswinds typical to the Green Lake course did not plague this year's event. The head wind that persisted for most of both days made for somewhat slower race times but these conditions made for relatively comfortable racing, particularly for lining up the racers on the starting line. Green Lake continues to be a wonderful location for canoe/kayak racing, it is amazing to consider that not too many years ago their lake was in nearly as dire straights as is Burnaby Lake. The picture above shows Jeff and Daryl returning from their K2 1000m race.
