The Regatta Ready Program is designed for athletes who are new to sprint canoe and kayak and are ready to build toward their first racing experience. Whether you have completed an Intro to Sprint program or are looking for a structured pathway into competition, this program will help you develop the skills, fitness, and confidence needed to become race ready.
Training takes place in a supportive and team-oriented environment where athletes learn alongside others who are working toward the same goal: competing at the Pacific Cup Regatta in Maple Ridge, BC.
Led by nationally certified coaches, participants will receive instruction tailored to their stage of development while experiencing the excitement and camaraderie of being part of a paddling team.
Throughout the season, athletes will:
Develop efficient canoe and kayak paddling techniques
Improve boat control, balance, and confidence on the water
Build endurance, strength, and overall fitness
Learn race starts, pacing, and sprint racing fundamentals
Practice training routines used by competitive paddlers
Gain an understanding of regatta procedures and race formats
Experience training within a team environment
Prepare for participation in their first sprint canoe and kayak regatta
The primary goal of the Regatta Ready Program is to prepare athletes for participation in the Pacific Cup Regatta in September. By the end of the program, athletes will have developed the skills and confidence necessary to safely and successfully participate in a competitive racing environment.
Athletes are encouraged to focus on personal improvement, learning, and having fun while working toward this exciting season-ending event.
